But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

- Acts 1:8

At Faith Church, our desire is to be a congregation of faithful witnesses for Jesus Christ.  We are striving to be a church that is biblically missional and passionately and actively committed to reaching out to people - in Northern Virginia and metro Washington DC, across the United States, and around the world.

We believe that this can be carried out only by God’s supernatural power as we express our dependence on Him through prayer and His Word, the Bible.  Our outreach ministries are designed to equip and involve our congregation in personal and corporate evangelism and in practical service to our local community.

Some of our outreach opportunities are listed below. To learn how you can become involved, please contact Pastor Bob Barnett.

Christianity Explored

We offer an informal course for people who want to investigate Christianity or just brush up on the basics.  It explores who Jesus was, what His aims were, and what it means to follow Him.  For information about Christianity Explored, please click here.

Community Outreach Events

We sponsor several events of interest to the community, including programs for children and families during Christmas and Easter, parenting classes such as Shepherding a Child's Heart, and the Reasons to Believe series on faith and science.

Each summer, during the third week of July, we offer a community-wide Vacation Bible School for children, age two through sixth grade.  Over 100 kids participate, many from our surrounding neighborhood and nearby churches.  To learn about our recent VBS, please click here.

We are blessed with talented and creative people who use their skills and interests to reach out in innovative ways.  For example, from 2002-2006, we organized and hosted the Kingstowne Faith 5K Run, a USATF sanctioned race in which 100% of the proceeds went to Koinonia Foundation, a local charity.

Evangelism Training

We seek to fulfill the Great Commission by providing our members with the skills and tools to effectively present the gospel.   We frequently offer the Becoming a Contagious Christian course as part of our Christian education program.

Mercy Ministries

We are involved in sharing the love of Christ in tangible ways through financial support and by volunteering at agencies such as the ones listed below. If you want to serve Christ in this way, pease contact Pastor Bob Barnett.

·         Franconia Area Churches ESL Cooperative (teaches English to our immigrant neighbors)

·         Good News Jail and Prison Ministry (serves in Alexandria and Fairfax County prisons)

·         Koinonia Foundation (provides assistance to people in Kingstowne, Franconia, East Springfield, and Newington)

·         Meals on Wheels (serves the elderly in Fairfax county)

·         Sanctity of Life Ministries (counsels and supports women contemplating abortion)

Missions

The Missions Committee at Faith Church works directly with our missionaries abroad and at home. Click here for a list of the missions we support.

We coordinate and sponsor short-term mission teams every year.  These programs normally take place for a few weeks during the summer.  In 2008, we are supporting short-term missionaries in Uganda, France, and Mexico and a youth mission trip to West Virginia.

Each Fall, we host a two-day missions conference.  We normally invite one of our supported missionaries to speak and highlight the work of our missionaries, short-term missions teams, and community outreach programs.
